The arrival of Tom Ford's posh, dual-level Madison Avenue boutique anchors a condensed fourteen-block district for extremely expensive, neotraditional menswear like made-to-measure suits, handmade shoes, and mechanical wristwatches. As business-casual fades and runway fashion gets ever spookier, another generation of businessmen and stylish dressers is turning to tailored clothing, barbershop shaves, and hand-stitched monograms. Tom Ford has created an environment for men to shop in where they would be given a really high level of service and a high-quality product. The shop feel quite residential, it feels like a house. Its a perfect store for the urban, sophistiacated man who appreciates detail, quality, and cut. In the International Herald Tribune there was a full-page close-up shot of Ford's smouldering gaze beckons shoppers to come hither—to the new Madison Avenue boutique, bien sur—while that slightest smidge of mascara is the ne plus ultra of modern man-glam appeal. Now we are only waiting for the men fragrance that will be launched in the fall and who knows maybe there will be a Tom Ford Hollywood as well?
