Alberta Ferretti is the latest designer to jump the Atlantic to show her cruise collection. The runway show will be held May 15 at the brand's U.S. headquarters on 56th Street in Manhattan. Ferretti is the second Italian designer to hold a resort show in New York; Gucci's Frida Giannini did so two years ago, followed by Dior and Chanel last year. "Over the past three years, cruise has shown a growth of between 35 and 40 percent each season in the U.S. for us," Ferretti told WWD. "I believe it's important to support it and further boost its visibility in a city such as New York." In December, Ferretti decided to start presenting her Philosophy ready-to-wear line in New York, kicking off with the fall 2007 collection.
