Art meets Fashion

A few weeks ago, the squat, white structure, designed by the architect Zaha Hadid, took shape on a car park rooftop. Chanel Mobile Art - financed by the French luxury goods company - is irresistible. The exhibition in Hong Kong, the first stop of a two-year world tour, opened Feb. 27 and runs until April 5 and showcases the works of 20 international contemporary artists.
Chanel required all the artists to produce work inspired by the quilted handbag, the "2.55," for "February 1955" when it was designed by Coco Chanel.

Paul & Joe

Sophie Albou proves there is something to be said for keeping it all in the family. Her label, Paul & Joe, is named after her sons and is run with the help of her husband and mother. I love this boutique in Paris with sweet floral wallpaper and shabby chic vanities exudes a cool boudoir femininity. Whether it's a kelly-green velvet blazer or that irresistible cable-knit cashmere, P&J designs evoke boarding school charm, but with a bit of an edge.

From Paris with Vintage Love

Vintage clothes shopping in Paris can be a daunting proposition, with many a pricey outpost dedicated to those in the market for a nicely aged Kelly bag or an Yves Saint Laurent trenchcoat. But vintage shops of all levels are multiplying around town, offering the opportunity to rummage through decades' worth of Parisian castoffs in hope of scoring a rare find. Here's a sampling of my favorite addresses in the ever-fashionable but still low-key Marais, for a dedicated vintage shopping spree the next time you're in the neighborhood. One of my favoutie vintage spots is found at 97 Rue vielle du temple. For vintage and designer sunglasses head to Mode de Vue 53, Rue Turenne.

Esprit Vinyle, 57, Rue de Saintonge 75003 Paris, France 01 42 71 55 95
At Esprit Vinyle on rue de Saintonge, you can find new clothing, jewelry, and accessories, plus a selection of vintage shoes, boots, bags, and clothes including labels like Chloé, Isabel Marant, Christophe Lemaire,… and Vanessa Bruno. The boutique prides itself on selling designer jewelry made exclusively in Parisian ateliers.

Quidam de Revel, 26, Rue Poitou 75003 Paris, France 01 42 71 53 60
An appointment-only vintage boutique in two adjacent storefronts on the rue de Poitou, Le Quidam de Revel sells and rents a mix of haute couture and ready to wear clothing, plus jewelry, handbags, luggage, and objects… from the 1920s to the 1970s. Here you can find names like Cardin, Dior, Lanvin, and Pucci, plus a mix of 18th-century and Modernist jewelry.

Freepstar: The new kid on the block is the best bang for your buck. Good vintage purses (lot’s of clutches as of late) and Kate Moss style vests, avoid at all costs Saturday and Sunday. The name is well-known in the Marais as this is the second location. The original location is 8, rue Saint Croix de la Bretonnerie, 75004.

Work of Art

I love everything that Julian Schnabel's amazing creativity produces! Gramercy Park Hotel, the fire place at the Rose bar, a pink palazzo on top of an old factory in New York does. Schnabel says he was influenced by a visit he took to the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua Italy and the Giotto frescoes inside but also by American architects Addison Mizner and Stanford White which is why there are Moorish, Turkish and Venetian motifs throughout.
The building houses five residences including his own which is the perfect backdrop for not only Schnabel's own art but his amazing collection of art by Luigi Ontani, Francis Picabia, Cy Twombly, and Man Ray.In the basement of the building is the swimming pool, a very rare occurance in New York

Living the life in the capital of class - New Paris Interiors

The city of light is a place of persistent beauty, from the Tuileries gardens to the banks of the Seine to the heights of Montmartre. But the restrained palette of beige and stone painted by the city’s noble architecture may leave one wondering if Parisians are color-impaired. Fear not—for this new volume of Paris Interiors, Angelika Taschen has brought together a selection of apartments so astonishing, so surprising, and so inspiring. Architect India Mahdavi, French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld, auctioneer Simon de Pury, shoemaker Christian Louboutin, gallerists Philippe Jousse and Didier and Cleménce Krzentowski, fashion designer Rick Owens, and many more of the city’s most interesting personalities have opened their doors for this breathtaking collection of resplendent Parisian homes

Michelangelo, Vasari, and Their Contemporaries

The Morgan Library & Museum in New York has an extraordinary exhibition that runs until April 27.Seventy-nine masterpieces of Renaissance drawing are on view in 'Michelangelo, Vasari, and Their Contemporaries: Drawings from the Uffizi'. This exhibition presents a survey of Florentine draftsmanship of the sixteenth century from Michelangelo and Pontormo to Vasari and the mannerists such as Bronzino and Alessandro Allori. Drawings by artists who worked on the frescoes, paintings, tapestries, and other decorative work that embellished the magnificent Palazzo Vecchio in Florence, initially the town hall and then home to the Medici dukes, are the main focus of the exhibition. Taschen has a new book that show Michelangelo’s complete works.

My Fair Lady

My Fair Lady was created by Washington Tremlett, a legendary shirt-making company established in 1870, to pay homage to G.B.Shaw’s flower girl turned into an exquisite lady, the fragrance has gracefulness and elegance that are almost out of this age. Soft rose note, enriched by amber and delicately sweetened by mandarin and orange.

Amoureuse

Sublimely feminine, exquisitely heady, gracefully languid, Amoureuse is a bombshell, a charmer, a striking beauty from its piquantly-fruity top notes of tangerine and cardamom to the white floral harmony of the heart accord with its beguiling aromas of jasmine, ginger lily and tuberose, to the warm, indolent base of honey and soft woods.
