Sao Paulo - Cris Barros

Cris Barros has been quietly working on a plan to capitalize on the burgeoning international interest in Brazilian fashion. In March, the designer opens a gleaming new store across the street from the city's über-chic Fasano Hotel. The flagship shop has been designed by Carolina Maluhy, herself a protégée of Fasano architect Isay Weinfield, and will incorporate the easy luxury that Barros fans like Gisele Bündchen have grown to love. The hard/soft mix of concrete and iron with croc leather and silk velvet will, in a sense, cement her position as one of the country's most sought-after designers. "The Fasano is where all the VIPs from Sao Paulo go for dinner or a drink, and it's the hotel of choice for trendsetters visiting the city. It will be impossible for them to miss our store!"

The Perfect Scent

Chandler Burr's new book, "The Perfect Scent: A Year Inside the Perfume Industry in Paris and New York" (Henry Holt), follows the creation of two fragrances—Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely and Hermès' Un Jardin sur le Nil—and the myriad of pubic relations meetings, sales strategy sessions, and endlessly honed formulae that go along with their launches.

Amie Dicke

In her new series of sculptures, Amie Dicke pays homage to the supreme self-sacrifice of the obsessively style-conscious. Dicke's transformation of vamps into vampires is often read by critics as a critique of fashion, her real intent is to distill the imagery she adores down to its rawest essence. In the process, her work has seduced some of the industry's most influential and inspirational figures: She's been featured in numerous glossies and her collectors include Mario Testino and Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren.

Fashion Forward Starlet

The only thing generating more buzz than Keira Knightley's performance in Atonement is that green dress. I am sure the green colour is going to be a hit in the style department this season.

Milan - Gucci Menswear Collection

Frida Giannini's Gucci show was sexy with a modern rock 'n' roll edge, gypsy dingle-dangles and Jimmy Hendrix hair mops to it. It had a touch of cool decadence and the Gucci stamp of luxury. Loved it!

James Rousseau - “To Make You Mine” Lyrics

James Rousseau - “To Make You Mine” Lyrics

I’m lost in thought all the time
You are always on my mind
You rise a light known (?) that I’d seen before
You kept coming back for more

I wonder if you know what you mean to me
Let it overflow over you and me

I will kill a thousand men to make you mine
The blood upon my hands won’t mean a thing
I’m as good as dead without you by my side
I might as well be crucified
You won’t let me in

You put me back on my feet
You paint a smile on every face you make
I try to do the best I can for you
I love the crazy things you do

The Warhol Economy:How Fashion, Art, and Music Drive New York City by Elizabeth Currid

In The Warhol Economy, Elizabeth Currid argues that creative industries like fashion, art, and music drive the economy of New York as much as if not more than finance, real estate, and law. And these creative industries are fueled by the social life that whirls around the clubs, galleries, music venues, and fashion shows where creative people meet, network, exchange ideas, pass judgments, and set the trends that shape popular culture. The economics of art and culture in New York and other cities has been greatly misunderstood and underrated. The Warhol Economy explains how the cultural economy works-and why it is vital to all great cities.

The book has fascinating original interviews with many of New York's important creative figures, including fashion designers Zac Posen and Diane von Furstenberg.

Neue Gallerie

If you've never been to the Neue Gallerie in New York, you really should plan a visit. It's a small little jewel box of a place with a fabulous restaurant, Cafe Sabarsky, named after the museum's co-founder Serge Sabarsky, that serves authentic Viennese specialties. It's a great place to enjoy a hot chocolate on a cold New York afternoon. The Neue Galerie (New Gallery) also has a Gustav Klimt exhibit opening on October 18th. Check it out and enjoy some beautiful art and maybe a little strudel

Le Scaphandre et le Papillon

Look forward to seeing the movie The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, that is learn is based on the memoir, Le Scaphandre et le Papillon, by Jean-Dominique Bauby, the editor-in-chief of French Elle who suffered a rare stroke to the brain stem. Only his brain and his left eye were left undamaged. Yet Bauby didn’t let a small thing like paralysis stop him from blinking his memoir into existence. His memories included a combination of how he remembered life and how he imagined life would have been had he not been paralyzed at the age of 43. His extravagant and larger than life interpretation of a world he never knew is inspirational and heartwarming.

Murakami

Japanese artist Takashi Murakami's exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles has attracted celebrities and art enthusiasts, as well as serious shoppers, due to the freestanding Louis Vuitton store inside. Once again, another example of art and fashion colliding with the help of some serious brand management.
“If you look at the world of art people interested in contemporary art, they are usually interested in luxury,” said Yves Carcelle, the president of Louis Vuitton. “
There has been a lot of comparison between Takashi Murakami and Andy Warhol as well. Murakami calls his studio the factory just like Warhol and has a team of assistants who actually "create" his art which also blurs the line between high and low, similar to Warhol.
