The First Saturday in May

The fashion set has long taken inspiration from equestrian sports, from the ubiquitous boots-tucked-into-pants trend (adopted from the breeches and riding boots of traditional hunting dress) to the moniker of one of the more lucrative, and recognizable, brands in fashion history (perhaps you've heard of Polo Ralph Lauren?). Clothes horses and lovers of horses can all get into a new documentary about the most exciting event in the equestrian world, the Kentucky Derby. "The First Saturday in May" (named for the weekend each year when the thoroughbred stakes race is run) is an independent film written, directed, and produced by Brad and John Hennegan. see www.thefirstsaturdayinmay.com.
Normand - Paris

If you're spring shopping in Paris this weekend, make it a point to stop by Robert Normand's two-day-old boutique at 149-150 Galerie de Valois in the Galerie du Palais Royal. Normand's bright, artful print pieces (he's a Pucci alum) are showcased against undulating walls covered with op art-like black and white stripes and an ocher carpet.

Fashionably Films

Here is a partial list of my favorite fashionable films, the first being Breakfast at Tiffany's of course. But while everyone loves the little black dresses she wears, it is the orange coat and mink hat that is the outfit I love most. In To Catch a Thief Grace Kelly has a cool elegance and perfect wardrobe. Another stylish movie of all time, is Belle du Jour starring Catherine Deneuve. The costumes for the film are created by Yves Saint Laurent and Roger Vivier. American Gigolo in which Richard Gere wore exclusively Georgio Armani. And Lauren Hutton looked amazing too. Ther are also some fashionable parts in the movie A Perfect Murder, starring Ms. Paltrow again and Michael Douglas. The sets are amazing and I would kill for that wardrobe.

Trendy places in Paris

As I am a lover of all thing luxurious and exclusive, it is no wonder that Paris is a city I simply cannot get enough of. One address that has been a long time favorite of mine is Le Voltaire. With a Left Bank location situated on the Seine and next to some of Paris’ best galleries, it has become a popular spot for an international crowd of fashion forward socialites, wealthy businessmen, and well-heeled Parisians. Another favorite restaurant of mine is Le Stresa. It has grown in popularity among the rich and famous. Serving Italian food that will make you want to head south once Fashion Week is over, it is a celebrity hot spot offering a feast for the eyes and appetite. Le Mathi’s is only open for an impressively small crowd of international socialites, celebrities, and affluent individuals.
